Field Exploration in Lunar Investigation Crossing (FELIX)

Faculty Advisor: Erik Knudsen

Industry Mentor: Ursa Major

Summary: Project FELIX is focused on designing a rover that operates within a fleet of four, collectively tasked with constructing infrastructure to support sustained lunar exploration.Ìý

The primary objective of the rover is to deploy a bridge across a canyon, enabling safe traversal for the fleet. With strict design constraints, the system demands a compact, multi-stage deployment mechanism that extends well beyond the rover’s footprint.Ìý

In addition to deploying the bridge, the rover must store simulated lunar regolith and assist in building a protective berm around a launch pad.Ìý

The final deliverable is a remotely operated rover capable of navigating and completing each of the mission objectives within a one-hour time limit, demonstrating the mechanical precision, control integration, and system coordination required for future lunar surface operations.Ìý
