The summary below, updated for academic year 2025-26*, provides a timeline overview of important dates and deadlines for faculty processes headed up by the College of Engineering & Applied Science (CEAS) Office of Faculty Advancement (FA).

Calendar Overview

  • July 1: All unit chair/director fiscal year appointments begin
  • July 1: Faculty recruitment cycle begins
  • July 1: Fall lecturer/temporary faculty spreadsheets and offer letters due to CEAS FA
  • July 21: Department Chairs Retreat (CEAS Dean's event)
  • July 22: HR Liaison faculty process training workshop

During July:

  • Faculty recruitment begins for AY25-26 (information and instructions sent following Department Chairs Retreat) 听
  • Units complete Professional Improvement Agreements (PIA) for faculty rated at 鈥淏elow Expectations鈥 or 鈥淯nsatisfactory鈥 during an AY24-25 review process
  • Units work on upcoming AY25-26 Comprehensive Review, Promotion & Tenure (CRPT) cases
  • CEAS FA sends official case timeline statements to units for AY25-26 cases听听
  • August 14:桃色视频 New Faculty Orientation (campus event)
  • August 14: AY25-26 faculty contracts start
  • August 15: Hire-With-Tenure dossiers for faculty with Spring 2026 starts are due to CEAS FA (submit to FDRS)
  • August 18: CEAS New Faculty Orientation (college event)

During August:

  • CEAS FA sends units training compliance information for faculty members
  • First Level Review Committee (FLRC) launches training and hire-with-tenure cases with Spring 2026 starts; FLRC continues to meet and review cases throughout AY
  • CEAS FA sends units information on sabbatical reports due in October
  • CEAS FA sends units information on teaching professor reappointment & promotion processes
  • September 2: Dean鈥檚 Faculty Fellow Reports due to CEAS FA
  • September 15: Salary equity appeals due to unit leadership
  • September 15: Job ads submitted to CEAS FA
  • September 22:鈥Comprehensive Review dossiers for tenure-track faculty due to CEAS FA (submit to FDRS)
  • September 30:鈥疨rofessional Improvement Agreements (PIA) due to CEAS FA; these agreements should be in place for faculty that received a rating of 鈥淏elow Expectations鈥 or 鈥淯nsatisfactory鈥 during a review process

During September:

  • Search chair and search committee workshops and campus recruitment training(s) launch, with workshops throughout AY
  • Units receive communication about post-tenure reviews for faculty听
  • October 24: Tenure & Promotion to Associate Professor dossiers for tenure-track faculty due to CEAS FA (submit to FDRS)
  • October 30:鈥疨rofessional Improvement Agreements (PIA) due to CEAS FA if rating was appealed
  • October 31: Sabbatical Reports due to CEAS FA (for previous Spring semester or academic year sabbaticals)听

During October:

  • Units receive communication about Spring lecturer/temporary faculty hiring
  • Call for nominations for CEAS Awards
  • Call for nominations for University of Colorado Distinguished Professorship Candidates
  • Nominations due for campus
  • November 3:鈥疦ominations due to ADFA for CEAS Awards (e.g., Charles A. Hutchinson Memorial Teaching Award, Max S. Peters Faculty Service Award, CEAS Faculty Research Award, CEAS Outstanding Staff Award, and Textbook Recognition Award)
  • November 7: Sabbatical Applications due to CEAS FA (for Fall semester and AY)
  • November 17: Spring lecturer/temporary faculty spreadsheets and offer letters due to CEAS FA
  • November 21: Promotion to full Professor dossiers for tenured faculty due to CEAS FA (submit to FDRS)

During November:

  • Units complete evaluations of faculty salary equity
  • CEAS FA sends out Faculty Report on Professional Activities (FRPA) workbooks for unit review
  • Teaching Professor First Level Review Committee Membership is set (TP FLRC)
  • Call for nominations for CEAS Dean鈥檚 Faculty Fellows, Hazel Barnes Prize, and President鈥檚 Inclusive Excellence Award听
  • December 15:鈥疍ifferentiated workload applications for teaching faculty (for Fall of subsequent AY) due to CEAS FA听
  • January 15: Sabbatical Applications due to CEAS FA (for Spring semester and calendar year)
  • January 16: Units complete review and adjustments for FRPA Workbooks
  • January 30: Teaching professor reappointment/promotion information due to CEAS FA听

During January:

  • ADFA sends initial communication on Annual Merit Evaluation Process and FRPA Reminders
  • CEAS FA sends units training compliance information for faculty members
  • Call for nominations for CEAS Dean鈥檚 Policy Advancement Faculty Fellows
  • CEAS FA launches Teaching Professor First Level Review Committee (TP FLRC) training; TP FLRC continues to meet and review cases throughout Spring of AY
  • CEAS FA sends units information on sabbatical听report due in April
  • CEAS FA sends units leadership appointment information
  • Associate Faculty Growth Grants due to Campus 听
  • Nominations for due to Campus
  • February 1: Faculty deadline for FRPA submissions
  • February 6: Dean鈥檚 Policy Advancement Fellows applications due to ADFA

During February:

  • Early February ADFA sends reminders about faculty past due on their FRPA submission
  • CEAS FA sends detailed follow up communication on Faculty Annual Merit Evaluation Process
  • Nominations due to Campus for Hazel Barnes Prize
  • Units receive communication about Summer lecturer/temporary faculty hiring
  • March 16: Units submit FRPA Workbooks to CEAS FA
  • March 27: Hire-With-Tenure dossiers (for faculty seeking tenure) with Fall 2026 starts due to CEAS FA (submit to FDRS)
  • March TBD: Nominations for Distinguished Professor due from Chairs to ADFA and Dean听

During March:

  • Unit leaders identify faculty with ratings of 鈥淏elow Expectations鈥 or 鈥淯nsatisfactory鈥 during an AY25-26 review process
  • CEAS FA sends units communication about mandatory and non-mandatory Comprehensive Review, Promotion & Tenure cases for AY26-27
  • Nomination process begins for the Provost鈥檚 Faculty Achievement Awards (includes solicitation from the Office of Faculty Affairs and eligibility list)
  • Nominations due to Campus for Outstanding Faculty Mentoring
  • April 1: Sabbatical Reports due to CEAS FA (for previous Fall semester and calendar year sabbaticals)
  • April 3: Faculty Merit Evaluation Forms due to CEAS FA via DocuSign
  • April 6: May start summer lecturer/temporary faculty spreadsheets and offer letters due to CEAS FA
  • April 15: Hire-With-Tenure dossiers (for faculty that currently have tenure) with Fall 2026 starts are due to CEAS FA (submit to FDRS)
  • April 15:鈥Differentiated workload applications for instructional faculty due to CEAS FA for spring of the subsequent academic year 听
  • April 22: Leadership appointments due to CEAS FA

During April:

  • CEAS FA launches training on Comprehensive Review, Promotion & Tenure (CRPT) processes for faculty candidates and folks involved in dossier preparation for AY26-27 review cycle
  • May 1: Post-Tenure Review Reports due to CEAS FA
  • May 4: Remaining summer lecturer/temporary faculty spreadsheets and offer letters due to CEAS FA
  • May 15: Units submit CVs for non-mandatory Comprehensive Review, Promotion & Tenure (CRPT) cases for the next annual cycle to Dean and ADFA for review
  • May 22: Provost鈥檚 Faculty Achievement Award nominations due to ADFA
  • May 29: Faculty recruitment search protocols 鈥 completed by search chairs 鈥 due to CEAS FA听
  • Early June: CU Board of Regents votes on tenure cases and sabbaticals

During June:

  • CEAS FA completes annual calendar updates and sends out communication to units
