Campos Student Center Academic Services

Central to our mission, the Center offers a variety of academic services for BOLD scholarship students and active student society members. The Academic Services program partners with student success offices in the college to offer undergraduate research and career & professional development opportunities to students in our community. BOLD scholars and student society members utilize our unique Academic Learning Lab for tutoring and engagement with academic departments & programs.

We are driven by our three core learning objectives:

  • Deeper Knowledge Acquisition, Integration and Application - Students will develop effective study habits, skills, and techniques through one-to-one, peer-to-peer, faculty to student, and group study sessions to improve their academic practice and performance through questioning, reverse teaching, and peer support.
  • Persistence and Academic Achievement - The Center offers collaborative and peer-led learning experiences through a mutually beneficial relationship between peers and scholarship cohorts. Our Center collaborates with academic departments and programs to promote faculty and student engagement.
  • Access and Flexibility - Academic Services offers flexible learning modalities to maximize scholar and society member access. Our Center offers in-person appointments, drop-in office hours, scheduled workshops and virtual learning sessions during the fall and spring semesters.

Undergraduate Research

BOLD Scholars Undergraduate Research spring 2025

BOLD Scholars participated in undergraduate research across engineering and STEM fields through the FUTURE program in spring 2025.

In support of our strategic vision of increasing undergraduate research experiences, our Center sponsors the Fundamentals of Undergraduate Research Program (FUTURE). FUTURE is an exciting opportunity for BOLD scholars, society members, and Lattice scholars to gain practical research experience in engineering by linking undergraduate students with a graduate student mentor. Get hands-on experience as an undergrad working in a research lab alongside your mentor. You'll work on a research project 3–5 hours per week and participate in a 15-week seminar course on research practices. You'll also develop your own research hypothesis and work through the research process, culminating with a poster presentation at the end of the semester.

Details for Scholars & Society Members

  • Work with a graduate mentor for 3–5 hours per week
  • Gain exposure and learn the fundamentals of working in a lab environment, testing a hypothesis, and analyzing data
  • Participate in a 15-week seminar course for one credit (graded Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory)
  • Make a poster about your experience and present it at the end of the semester

Scholars and society members are encouraged to explore all student research opportunities.

Professional Development

In collaboration with the Engineering Career Hub team, our Center provides career and professional development opportunities for scholars and society members. Our strategic vision includes developing students’ leadership skills, creating a comprehensive internship support program, and hosting networking events to connect with industry organizations.

The Engineering Career Hub supports all CU Engineering students in exploring and preparing for meaningful, impactful careers through career exploration, study abroad opportunities, undergraduate research and more.
