Join the Center for Leadership on September 12 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM for a meaningful day of service through the Adopt-a-Spot program! This is your chance to earn service hours, connect with fellow Buffs, and explore what leadership looks like in action.

We’re teaming up with the City of Boulder’s Adopt-a-Spot initiative to support Public Works staff in maintaining and beautifying public spaces. Volunteers will help with:

Removing trash, leaves, and debris
Weeding and pruning ornamental grasses (seasonal)
Mulching landscaped areas (mulch provided by the city)
Trimming edges and clearing pedestrian paths
Reporting hazards or irrigation issues to city staff

Whether you’re passionate about sustainability, community engagement, or just want to make a difference, this is a great way to get involved.

We’re thrilled to kick off the Emerging Leadership Academy with a powerful session featuring distinguished entrepreneur and leader David J. Adelman. Drawing from his journey as CEO of Campus Apartments and a co-owner of major sports franchises, including the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, Adelman brings real-world wisdom on leadership under pressure.

In this Q&A style workship, Adelman will discuss resilience. Adelman will share practical strategies for leading with confidence and ease, drawing on his extensive experience in business and sports ownership. Discover how to navigate leadership challenges and gain insights from one of today’s top business leaders.

Gates of Lodore, Green River, Dinosaur National Monument
August 13-19, 2025

Program Highlights:

Experience and explore the natural wonders of the Green River through the Gates of Lodore, and the breathtaking landscapes and cultural history of Dinosaur National Monument in Colorado and Utah.
Through our partnership with NOLS, participants will learn by doing on this week-long river expedition and gain basic skills in paddling, navigating whitewater rapids, managing equipment, Leave No Trace camping, and expedition behavior.
Practice being an effective member of a group and hone your leadership skills in teamwork and group development, communication, inclusion, and decision making.
Examine the complexities of river conservation leadership in the American West through field discussions with subject matter experts on policy, ecology, environmental and climate change implications, and Indigenous knowledge, perspectives, and values.
Cost: $1,000, 6 nights, 7 days total (4 nights, 5 days on the river), includes transportation to/from Vernal, Utah, instructors, rafting and group camping equipment, and most food. Incudes a certificate of completion and status as NOLS expedition alumni. Personal gear needed not included; estimated cost of $150 for NOLS personal gear rental.
Open to all undergraduate students, no prior river, outdoor or camping experience necessary.
The ��ɫ��Ƶ Student Code of Conduct and all university policies apply to this program.
