MadhurÌýAtreya
- Assistant Teaching Professor
Madhur Atreya earned his BS from theÌýUniversityÌýofÌýTexasÌýat Austin and MS from theÌýUniversityÌýofÌýSouthernÌýCalifornia, both in mechanical engineering.
Prior to joining ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ as a PhD student, he spent five years in industry working on a wide varietyÌýofÌýmanufacturing and design projects, from an aircraft engine test pylon to premium motorcycles. As a PhD student and postdoctoral researcher, he worked in the area of printed biodegradable electronics for precision agriculture and soil monitoring. In particular, he developed a novel printed sensor to characterize microbial decomposition of organic matter in soil. He also mentored over a dozen undergraduate students in the lab.
After a year as a lecturer in the Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering, Madhur joins IDE, where he will primarily teach courses in design and manufacturing. He is especially passionate about teaching students prototyping.
Research Interests
Printed and solution-processed electronics, naturally derived and biodegradable materials, Internet of things (IoT) and distributed sensing, novel fabrication techniques, user-centered design.
