<p>The ecological complexity of many emerging disease threats—interactions among multiple hosts, multiple vectors and even multiple parasites—often complicates efforts aimed at controlling disease. Now, a new paper co-authored by a ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ professor is advancing a multidisciplinary framework that could provide a better mechanistic understanding of emerging outbreaks.</p>- <p>The University of Colorado Department of Athletics is embarking on an ambitious new initiative between academics and athletics – the proposed creation of a Sports Governance Center (SGC), which would be among the first of its kind in the nation.</p>

<p><span id="docs-internal-guid-f22690d8-1e7b-22a8-f2ac-545c37aa4be2">Stuck oil rigs, grizzly bears and changing weather patterns are just a few of the obstacles Gijs de Boer and his team of researchers encountered on the ground in </span>Oliktok Point, Alaska. De Boer, a scientist with the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES), who works in NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratory, spent the last two weeks deploying the DataHawk 2, a small, lightweight, unmanned aircraft, designed by CU-Boulder’s Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences.</p>
<p>It’s August and that means the hottest show in the night sky -- the Perseid meteor shower -- will make its annual appearance, peaking in the pre-dawn hours of Aug. 11 to 14.</p>
<p>For the fourth year, the CU-Boulder's Mini Law School, which is open to the campus community and the public, will be offered from 6 to 7:30 p.m. over eight Tuesdays Sept. 8 to Nov. 3. Designed for non-lawyers wanting to grasp and navigate the basics of the legal system, the course will cover everything from constitutional law to intellectual property, environmental, estate planning, family, criminal and business law, as well as litigation.</p>
