Safety
- Beginning on Monday, Sept. 26, police from the City of Boulder and the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ will step up enforcement of the city’s traffic laws in and around several of Boulder’s top locations for motor vehicle collisions involving a bicyclist or pedestrian as part of the Heads Up Boulder crosswalk safety campaign.
- The Boulder County Bomb Squad was on campus last night to investigate a suspicious device. Upon investigation, it was determined to be a bottle with harmless liquid. While it ended without incident, it serves as an opportune reminder that we all need to be good bystanders.
- The Bike Maintenance Clinics Program has several upcoming clinics open to ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ students. The comprehensive program teaches the fundamental skills needed to safely maintain bikes.
Each one-hour clinic is followed by shop time, where students will have time to ask questions and work on their new skills as bike mechanics. The clinics are free and are held at the Folsom Bike Station from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. - Every year, we have members of our community who fall victim to scammers who are trying to steal money or identities, or falsely representing who they are. Click through for a few tips to help you avoid becoming their next victim.
- All current ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ students, faculty and staff have access to a free public safety smartphone app (Lifeline Enterprise) featuring two ways for users to call for help in case of an emergency.
- The changing academic, research and student life needs of the university necessitate ongoing construction and maintenance projects to upgrade existing structures and create new ones. It is very important that as you move through campus, you respect work zones and follow detours that are posted for you.
- CUPD Dispatch Manager Becky Korte is retiring after 23 years of service. Becky started with the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ Police as a dispatcher and has served as the center’s supervisor for over nine years. We will be hosting an open house retirement celebration on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the South Terrace Tent at the University Memorial Center.Â
- CUPD is looking for the public’s help to identify a person of interest in this past weekend’s unlawful sexual contact incident. The person of interest in this case is also suspected to be the person who was involved in a similar crime on campus on Jan. 14, 2016.Â
- It’s important that CU Boulder students, faculty and staff know what to do in the event of flash flooding. Click through for information on flood safety.Â
