Course Evaluation Forms
Course Planning
To determine how your coursework will count towards your CU degree requirements, review the following steps and resources.
With your academic advisor(s), determine what specific degree requirements you should plan to fulfill while abroad. Common examples include major electives, A&S General Education requirements, and general electives.
Use theÌýÌýto determine if the courses you are interested in are already approved for the credit you need/ want. Please note, just because a course is listed on the Course Approvals List, it does NOT mean that it is guaranteed to be offered during your term abroad.
The vast majority of courses taken abroad will be accepted by ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ as elective credit at the very least. However, a small number of coursesÌýon Ed Abroad programs are not eligible for CU credit. See Non-Transfer Courses for more information.Ìý
If you do not see the credit you need listed on the Course Approvals List, you can submit additional courses for review using the various forms listed below.Ìý
Course Evaluation Forms
Use these forms to submit new courses for evaluation and/or confirm your course plan with your academic advisor. Course planning and evaluation procedures vary by school/college. Filter for your school/college using the tabs and make sure to read the instructions carefully.
Remember a few key tips:
- When possible, have twice as many approvals than you need so you'll have backup options.
- Allow yourself as much flexibility with the degree requirements you’re fulfilling abroad as possible.
- Course evaluations can take 3-5 weeks, so submit forms early!
The form you use will depend on the type of credit you are looking to get approved:
Examples of A&S Gen Eds: Arts & Humanities, Social Science, Global Perspective
Notes
- If a course on theÌýÌýalready has an A&S Gen Ed approval, it has been evaluated for all areas of Gen Ed & should not be re-submitted.ÌýOnly use this form to submit new classes that aren't already on the Course Approvals List.
- The following requirements are difficult to fulfill while abroad and cannot be fulfilled by taking a class that will come back to CU as less than 2.7 credits, even if they are listed as approved on theÌý:
- Written Communication
- Diversity Requirements
- Engineering, Business, CMCI, internship, and independent study coursesÌýcannot fulfillÌýA&S Gen Ed requirements.
Major/Minor/Certificate Evaluation Form
Notes
- Each form only goes to one department - submit a separate form for each of your majors/minorsÌý(e.g. you should submit minor evaluation request forms to your minor academic advisor).
- Most A&S departments will complete course evaluations based on a course description, however, the following departments require thatÌýfull syllabi are submitted with an evaluation request. If you cannot find syllabi on your program's website, reach out to your provider (e.g. CIEE, ISA, etc.) orÌýcontact your Ed Abroad Program Manager.
- Art History
- Art Practices
- Psychology & Neuroscience
- Sociology
- Theatre

Not to be confused with A&S Gen Eds, General Elective credit refers to college or university courses that do not fulfill specific requirements for your major, minor, or General Education (Gen Ed) areas, but still count toward the total number of credits you need to graduate (typically 120 credits).

- You can even submit evaluation requests while abroad.
Additional Types of Credit
Use the A&S Gen Ed Evaluation Form to confirm if a course can count for General Elective hours. Not to be confused with A&S Gen Eds, General Elective credit refers to college or university courses that do not fulfill specific requirements for your major, minor, or General Education (Gen Ed) areas, but still count toward the total number of credits you need to graduate (typically 120 credits).
These courses allow for flexibility to explore interests outside students' main field of study, try new subjects, or take additional classes that may enhance their skills or career goals. The number of General Elective credits available varies by major—programs with more required courses leave less room for electives, while more flexible majors allow students to take a greater number of them.
See the Internships pageÌýfor full details on credit policies.Ìý
