PEAC 2019 Cohort Thanking Their Donors

Since 1993, the Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program (MASP) has actively worked to address barriers experienced by first-generation students, those from rural or small towns, low-income students, and others historically excluded from higher education. We support our students to reach their goals through scholarships, small seminar classes, leadership opportunities, community programming, faculty- and peer-mentoring, a welcoming community space, and more. MASP is a home on campus for many of our students during their journey at the ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ, and the connections they develop within our community carry on beyond their time at this institution. As MASP continues to grow as a diverse community, we strive to raise our scholarship funding and to provide more resources for our students.ÌýÌý

MASP is open to all ÌÒÉ«ÊÓƵ students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences who seek to actively engage in advancing equity and belonging across our diverse campus community.Ìý MASP does not discriminate based on race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, creed, religion, veteran status, marital status, political affiliation, political philosophy, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression in accordance with state, federal and Regents law.Ìý

We truly appreciate donations of all sizes, and each and every contribution makes a crucial impact on our program.Ìý

Thank you for your support. We couldn't do it without your help.Ìý

Sincerely,

Karen Ramirez
Faculty Director, Miramontes Arts & Sciences Program

The Program for Excellence in Academics and Community (PEAC) is a summer bridge program for incoming first-year students in the College of Arts and Sciences. PEAC is a rigorous 3-week residential academic program that provides students with support to engage in intensive university-level coursework and form a strong community that will serve them during their first year and beyond. Students who successfully complete PEAC receive a stipend of $1,000 and become eligible for a four-year MASP participation scholarship.Ìý

PEAC is a critical component of MASP’s programming to cultivate belonging, promote equity, and address barriers experienced by first-generation students, those from rural or small towns, low-income students, and others historically excluded from higher education.Ìý

PEAC is free of charge for participating students, and therefore donations to this fund will cover the cost of PEAC programming and stipends.ÌýÌý
